RADNOR Valley make the trip to Berriew on Saturday with the Radnorshire side still boasting a 100 per cent record at the top of MMP-NL Mid Wales League One this season.

Manager Paul Morgan has been delighted with his young side’s start to the campaign though insisted his side remained underdogs in a highly competitive division.

“We have exceeded a lot of people’s expectations this season,” said Morgan. “We started poorly last season and we are 15 points better off compared to last season.

“However we are not getting ahead of ourselves as we know it is a long season.”

Morgan and jount-manager Adam Jones have been all the more impressed by their depleted squad which remains weakened by player unavailability while seven players continue to wait for international clearance.

Morgan said: “The lads have been playing a lot of minutes and been performing at a high level.

“Training is improving certain things and our coach Zeke Vivian is working really hard with the lads.”

Morgan insisted the best was yet to come from the Goats this season.

“We take one game at a time and I will always have confidence in my players. In a league containing sides like Caersws, Llanidloes Town and Llanfair United we are glad to be providing a level of competition and I am confident the players will continue to achieve great things by working hard.”

Morgan confessed the challenges facing the club to retain its tier three status following the FAW restructure had been discussed but would remain on the back burner until the end of the season.

“We are one of the many which will be affected due to our facilities,” said Morgan. “As a club we are looking at the possibilities as we have a young squad committed to playing for Radnor Valley Football Club.”
