BUILTH Wells suffered late heartbreak as Resolven hit back to snatch glory and inflict the Bulls first defeat of the season in a thrilling encounter.
The Neath side started brightly with the Bulls dependent on its back row of Ashley Mills, Lewis Bowen and Alex Brown to keep the hosts at bay.
Builth grew into the game and led when No8 Brown pounced on a mistake in the home ranks to cross with Dan Davies supplying the conversion.
The Bulls doubled their lead before the break with Harry Jenkinson forcing the hosts back inside their own territory and from a scrum captain Rhys Davies crossed with Davies converting.
However Resolven were back in the game just before the break with Tom Harris darting over for a try with Nathan Hughes converting the extras.
Harris crossed for a second try after the break with the conversion missed to reduce the Bulls lead to just two points.
The Bulls backs were to the walls and despite frustrating the hosts a penalty from the boot of Hughes gave the Neath side the lead for the first time.
Builth still had time to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat with a late penalty awarded only for Davies’ effort to drift just wide as the final whistle sounded.
Meanwhile Builth Wells overcame Resolven 31-17 in a youth friendly on Sunday.
Tries from Lloyd Offa, Dylan Williams, Rhys Morris, Iwan Mills and Jordan Price with Steffan Towns adding three conversions completed a deserved win for the young Bulls.
