GRESFORD Seconds brought the curtain down on their title winning Second XI Premier Division season with a 124-run home victory over Carmel and District Seconds.

David Baker (67) and Henry Makings (55) scored runs at the top of the order for Gresford, who won the toss, before Cam Evans struck 34 not out to help his side post 223 for eight, Derek Johnson (3-52) and Jac Badger-Watts (2-18) in the wickets.

Nick Hughes (28) and Rohit Kaimal (25) aside, no Carmel batsmen reached double figures as the visitors were bundled out for just 99, Harry Morris (3-9), Ross Willets (3-28) and Makings (2-5) impressing with the ball.

Northop Seconds clinched the runners-up spot but were unable to finish on a positive note as Llay Welfare Seconds secured a one-wicket win.

In a game dominated by the ball, Steve Partington (3-10), Ethan Griffiths (2-18), Elliot Walters (2-20) and Joe Howell (2-22) combined to dismiss Northop for 111.

Chris Hinton bagged 5-8 to give Northop chance of pulling off victory after the interval, but number nine Paul Wright struck 31 before tailenders David Wright (19no) and Jack Birch (11no) secured victory off the final ball.

Pontblyddyn Seconds also finished on a high courtesy of a seven-wicket home win against Brymbo Seconds.

Shashika Meistry (28) and Will Smith (22) helped Brymbo scramble to 114 for seven, despite Daz Wilcock's (3-10), after the visitors won the toss.

Pont needed just 22.1 overs to reach 115 for two, Gethin Thomas (68) and Nick Thomas (32) doing the damage at the top of the order before being removed by Terry Jones (2-16).

Hawarden Park Seconds were unable to end a tough season with a win as Denbigh Seconds secured a four-wicket away win.

Martin Hinton (48), Richard Penney (23) and Andy Penrose (23) combined to help Hawarden to 180, extras adding 30 to the score.

Rachel Warrenger and Penrose both claimed two wickets after the turnaround, but Denbigh eased to victory with Chris Brown (57) top scoring.

Buckley Seconds ended a difficult season with an eight-run defeat at home to eight-man Mochdre Seconds.

Liam Ho took 4-16, but Mochdre managed to post 144 for seven, 49 of which came from extras.

The middle order trio of Jack Massey (36), Jack Williams (20) and Samuel Edwards (20) tried to get Buckley over the line, but they fell just short.

Bangor Seconds (179-6) were also victorious as they defeated Menai Bridge Seconds (168-9) by eight runs.
