LLANDUDNO Albion comfortably avoided an FAW Trophy banana skin with a 3-1 win at Holyhead Town.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division side overcame heir fourth tier opponents with minimal fuss, with recent signing from Conwy Borough Lee Thomas putting them ahead after 31 minutes courtesy of a stunning free-kick past Darren Baker.

Prolific forward Dave Maddock almost doubled their advantage after the break when he forced Baker into a smart stop after a dazzling solo run, but Albion did add to their tally on 71 minutes when forward Lee Ellis converted from the penalty spot.

Thomas capped off a fine afternoon at the office with a second from another dead ball situation in the closing stages, and despite a late consolation from the Harbourmen it was not enough to take the gloss off another efficient display from Darren Jones’ side.

A stunning second half display from Glan Conwy saw them advance to the next stage with a 3-2 success at Llannefydd.

Jamie Jones, Connor Davies and Jordan Phillips all struck in the second period to overcome a deficit at the break, and although Alistair Stubbs reduced the arrears on 75 minutes the Division Two side held on in the face of sustained pressure late on.

There was no such luck for giant-killers Llandudno Amateurs, who were unable to produce the biggest win in their short history as they were downed 7-0 at home by third tier promotion hopefuls Llanrug United, with Penmaenmawr Phoenix also crashing out after a shock 4-3 defeat at Gwynedd League outfit Glantraeth.

Llanrwst United were beaten 4-2 after extra time at Nantlle Vale, and Mochdre Sports also exited with a 3-0 loss at St Asaph City.

Jack Nettleton netted Llandudno Junction’s only goal of the game in their heavy 4-1 Division One defeat at Barmouth and Dyffryn United, with Shane Jones, Gethin Evans (2) and Paul Lewis on target for the hosts.
