TNS 6

Aberystwyth Town 0

AERON Edwards led TNS to an emphatic victory at home to outclassed Aberystwyth Town on Tuesday night.

TNS went into the game keen to exorcise their frustrations following their IRN-BRU Cup heartache at the hands of Queens Park on Saturday and soon broke the deadlock with Edwards racing onto Dean Ebbe’s throughball to loft over goalkeeper Lee Jenkins.

It proved the start of a one sided contest with the Seasiders totally outclassed.

The Seasiders managed to soak up relentless pressure until the 33rd minute when Cieslewicz weaved his way through the visiting defence before squaring for Simon Spender to net.

It was all over by the break with Edwards chipping his second of the game with Jenkins out of position.

Moments later the Saints were awarded a penalty following an infringement but Jenkins denied Edwards his hat-trick from the spot.

It proved only a brief respite with TNS adding a fourth on the stroke of half-time as Jamie Mullan steered home a left wing cross from Chris Marriott.

The Saints dominated the second-half but had to wait until the 64th minute before adding a fifth with Spender crossing for Ebbe to head into the path of Cieslewicz to prod home.

Edwards headed over the bar before completing his hat-trick with six minutes remaining with a superb volley past Jenkins as TNS opened a three point lead at the top of the table after Connahs Quay Nomads slipped to defeat.
