Guilsfield 5 Llanrhaeadr 0

GUILSFIELD were galvanised by manager Nathan Leonard’s pre-match call to arms with an emphatic Friday night derby victory at home to Llanrhaeadr.

Leonard had demanded more from his players following a poor start to the campaign while Llanrhaeadr arrived at Clos Mytton on a high following an impressive run of form on the road.

Guilsfield set out of the traps with intent with Adam Jenkins denied by goalkeeper Connor Lee while Robbie James’ header struck the post after 10 minutes.

Jenkins rounded Lee to tap home from close range on 16 minutes and 10 minutes later the Llanrhaeadr goalkeeper was wrong footed by Danny Barton’s deflected free-kick as the hosts doubled their lead.

Llanrhaeadr struggled to test home goalkeeper Mike Jones with Dale Jones firing wide in their best chance of the half.

The match was over as a contest by the hour with the Guils doubling their advantage with two goals in as many minutes.

Jenkins fed Steve Blenkinsop to open his Guils account on 55 minutes before Jack Richards followed up shot from Barton parried into his path by Lee.

Blenkinsop completed his brace and the scoring with 12 minutes remaining with a smart header from Jack Harris’ right wing cross before Llanrhaeadr’s miserable evening was compounded with the late dismissal of Tom Bailey.
