LLANGEFNI Town moved to the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One summit with a dramatic 4-2 home win over Greenfield.

The promotion hopefuls showed their fighting qualities to mount a stunning second half fightback that saw them leapfrog Nantlle Vale into top spot ahead of their next league encounter against Llandudno Junction on September 22.

Cefni began the game on the front foot and missed chances early on through Matthew Jones and Kevin Lloyd, but they broke the deadlock on the half hour mark when Jones headed them into the lead.

The second half saw the visitors get back into the game on 60 minutes when Danny Calvert converted from the penalty spot after Daniel Sim had been felled in the box, and things went from bad to worse for the home side soon after when Calvert fired his second penalty of the afternoon following an infringement on Sean Beck.

Chris Roberts’ men responded immensely well to the setback and levelled matters after 79 minutes courtesy of a fine strike from full-back Jack Williams, and Cefni got their noses in front yet again when substitute Iwan Jones prodded home from close range after good work from Lloyd.

The hosts were under intense pressure in the closing stages but fought through the pressure, and they confirmed their success when a quick break following a corner presented a chance to Lloyd, who rounded off an impressive individual display with a neat finish from the penalty spot to complete the scoring.
