Rhyl 3 Penrhyncoch 1
PENRHYNCOCH were brought down to earth following their midweek heroics with defeat at Rhyl.
Roosters goalkeeper Oliver Fairbrother twice denied James Murphy in a tight first-half with few clear openings carved by either side.
Rhyl’s pressure told early in the second-half with Max Peate heading onto the bar from a corner with Ben Nash following up.
Fairbrother was again in action to tip over Murphy’s 30 yard free-kick before the ex-Newtown winger finally netted with a neat finish on the hour following good link up play between Kristian Pierce and Mike Pritchard.
Three minutes later Nash completed his brace by steering home Joe Culshaw’s free-kick.
Penrhyn were back in the game when Liam Lewis struck on 77 minutes.
Penrhyn dominated the final 10 minutes with Craig Williams forcing goalkeeper Rory Crowther into action before Liam Doherty fired wide as Rhyl held out for glory.
