HEIDI Davies continued her comeback from an injury lay-off by storming to victory at Malonno in Italy.

The Llandrindod Wells mountain runner arrives in Lombary to take on the 1000m climb 3.5km PizTri Vertical KM and the FlettaTrail which featured 1,100m of climb and descent over 2.1km as part of the World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) World Cup Series.

Davies raced to fourth in the PizTRi Vertical before an amazing second place in the FlettaTrail saw the young runner crowned overall champion over the two race weekend.

Davies expressed her surprise and delight following a never to be forgotten weekend in the Italian mountains.

Davies had competed last year and revealed Malonno was a place close to her heart.

“I first came to Malonno in 2017 and was completely blown away,” said Davies.

“Malonno is a special place because it blends the mountain running spirit so well with the fans and the athletes and creates a truly unique experience.

“Returning to Malonno again this year was a humbling experience and to race so well against some of the world’s top mountain runners was a pleasant surprise.

“Malonno is Malonno. It’s hard to describe the emotions but I am already looking forward to next year.”
