NEWTOWN hosts the biggest gathering of local sports clubs in its history on Saturday.

The Get Newtown Moving event has been organised by Sport Powys and the Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations (PAVO) and will take place at the town’s Town Hall grounds next to the Oriel Davies Gallery from 10.30-3pm on Saturday.

Organiser Jonny Roberts said: “We’re trying to set the day up to be as beneficial to as many different people as possible.

“The clubs and groups can put themselves out there and publicise their set ups while also reaching out to new members, new volunteers and showcasing what they have got on offer.

“Further to that it offers the chance for them to network among each other to see if they have any common issues and goals they can work on together. “

Roberts hopes the general public embraces the event and learn what the town has to offer,

Roberts added: “The public can take part in some fun activities while also seeing a lot of what Newtown has to offer. That way they can get involved in a new group or club, find a junior set up for their children or help out in their local community by volunteering.”
