THE 2018 Sion Wyn Memorial Sevens has been hailed a success.
Organisers were delighted with the support of the event from Mid Wales’ rugby family with Dolgellau sending three sides and Newtown represented by two while clubs from further afield, including Llangefni and Aberaeron were also represented.
Dolgellau won the Howdens Joinery Plate Final after beating Machynlleth 40-5 while Newtown beat holders Aberystwyth 21-7 in the Lloyds Coaches Cup Final to win the cup for the first time.
The evening prior to the event the club held an open night for local youngsters to sample touch rugby and hosted a large turn out.
The club is always looking for new players, with training taking place on Thursday evenings from 7pm as the club gears up for the North Wales League Three season opener at Benllech with Machynlleth hoping for an improved campaign.
