GAVIN Johnson has rebuilt Penybont United ahead of their return to the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South).

Johnson took the helm in the summer has welcomed the return of Phil Ruell from St Harmon to add experience to an otherwise young squad.

Johnson said: “Most of last season’s squad have gone to university or joined Mid Wales League clubs so its a newlook team for next season as we look to rebuild on and off the pitch.”

Talgarth Town will also look to rebuild after resigning from the Mid Wales League last season with goalkeeper Jordan Bailey arriving from Hay St Marys.

St Harmon will look to improve on last season with the arrival of Tom Lewis-Jones and Mark Price from Rhayader Town.

“We have a stronger squad this season and looking to give a good account of ourselves,” said a club spokesman.

Newcastle will also be among the contenders and can expect fierce cross border derbies with Felindre and the second strings of Knighton Town and Presteigne.

Presteigne have snapped up Jack Brindley, Billy Hyett, Jordan Griffiths and Liam Blythe from Knighton to boost their ranks.

Joint Presteigne manager Mark Weiland said; “We are confident of improving on last season’s fifth place finish.”

Hay St Marys, Llanidloes Town, Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells and Brecon Northcote reserve sides complete the line-up.

Llanidloes have lost Conrad Galloway and Joe Evans to Maesyrhandir while Ollie Lewis has joined Montgomery Town.
