GARETH Kelly has been unveiled as the new rugby hub officer at Brynllywarch Hall School near Kerry.

The newly appointed officer was appointed earlier this month having impressed himself as the outstanding candidate for the job.

Kelly has a long association with rugby in the area having developed as a junior at Newtown and represented the club at every level to senior second string before taking a break from the game to focus on his studies.

Kelly gained a degree in Sports Biomedicine and Nutrition in 2012 at Cardiff Metropolitan University and continued his studies at the University of Worcester where he gained a Masters in Sports Performance Analysis this summer.

Throughout his studies Kelly continued to retain strong links to his hometown club and rugby in the region.

For the past five years Kelly served as part of the RGC South under 15s coaching team alongside coaching Newtown Rugby Club’s junior sections from under seven to youth level.

Kelly’s match analysis skills have also been employed by Newtown Rugby Club while also serving the RGC Women’s ream as match analyst.

Newtown Rugby Club spokesman James Holloway praised Kelly and hoped the appointment would herald even closer links between the club and schools in the area with the appointment set to commence in September.
