BUILTH Wells’ inconsistent campaign continued with a one wicket defeat at Brockhampton IIIs in division one of the GB Liners Marches League.

The Bulls endured an awful start with Winston Williams, Sam Williams and Dylan McPhee falling cheaply.

Steve Anderson offered resistance with support from Aled Powell (35) then Chris Roff (37) before eventually falling for a top scoring 71.

A late flurry from Henry Edwards (27no) took Builth to a disappointing 207 to defend with Huw Meredith (3-35), and Mark Evans (3-47) leading the hosts’ wicket haul.

A lacklustre display in the field saw Builth contribute to their own downfall as Rhys Price going (82no) guided Brockhampton to 208-9 and victorry with four balls to spare.

McPhee (4-43), Edwards (2-40), Sam Williams (1-30), Rob Wall (1-31) and Mike Williams (1-51) shared the wickets.

Meanwhile Builth IIs strolled to a 10 wicket win at home to Garnons IIs in division three.

Gareth Sterry produced a career best 5-37 with support from Ian Morgan (3-37), Eurig Towns (1-19) and Ben Cripps (1-28) restricting Garnons to 179 with Simon Withers (53) and Stuart Turpin (32) top scoring.

Despite the cheap loss of Paul Rowe the hosts were guided to 180-1victory with Morgan (103no) toasting a maiden century with support from Jon Curzon (32) and Cripps (27).

Presteigne also celebrated a six wicket win over Canon Frome IIs.

Gary Rhodes (2-50) claimed the key wicket of James Hughes for a top scoring 78 to restrict Canon Frome to 209-7 to defend.

William Barthalomew (60) led the home side’s reply and joined by Mark Ammonds (45) before Lee Traylor (20no) and Robin Sparey (28no) formed an unbroken fourth wicket stand to steer their side to 211-4 and victory in the 33rd over.
