Welshpool 138 all out lost to Knockin 139-1 by nine wickets

WELSHPOOL crashed to a heavy nine wicket defeat at Knockin in division one of the Henshalls Shropshire League.

Lawrence Hitchen reduced Pool 13-3 with the cheap dismissals of Nick Davies (2), Dan Chodecki (3) and Joe Monk (5).

Russell Cadwallader was joined by Dan Pritchard in a 23 run fourth wicket stand before the latter was caught by Shaun Davis off Hitchen (4-14) for 16.

Captain Cadwallader led middle order defiance with a 31 run fifth wicket partnership alongside Tom Bowen (2) before the latter became Josh Keys’ first victim of the day.

Will Metcalfe was bowled for 13 before Keys (4-39) tore through the middle and tail end to reduce Pool to 117-8.

Cadwallader was finally trapped LBW by Jak Jones (1-5) for a top scoring 51 before Rob Anderson was caught by Jack Thorpe off Marcus Williams (1-5) for seven to leave Joe Cadwallader (8no) and Pool left defending a meagre 138.

Knockin founded their reply on a superb 85 run opening wicket stand before Jak Jones was bowled by Bowen (1-26) for 48.

However Andy Beckett (56no) carried his bat and joined by Keys (26no) in an unbroken second wicket partnership to guide Knockin to 139-1 and victory in the 32nd over.
