Newtown 67-1 beat Cound 66 all out by nine wickets

TOM Anderson starred as Newtown celebrated a nine wicket skittling of an outclassed Cound at the Recreation Ground.

Dave Anthony set the tone by snaring opener Dan Tudor LBW for a duck before Anderson removed Jack Case and Ryan Aston for ducks.

Anthony bowled Graham Trow (6) before the completing his 3-33 with the wicket of opener Farrell Waters, caught by Tom Foulkes for a top scoring 32.

Anderson swept through the remaining middle order with Jamie Brooks caught by Ryan Davies for before completing his 5-29 with Henry Cooper caught by Sam Cooke for a duck wile Dan Wilson was also despatched for a duck.

Ally Laird (2-4) made light work of the tail end with Tom Quraishi caught by Tom Goodman for eight before Iwan Morgan was trapped LBW for a duck to leave Adam Williams (8no) and Cound all out for a meagre 66 in the 20th over.

Despite the loss of Matthew Knight, bowled by Morgan (1-35) for 17, surviving opener Goodman (28no) carried his bat in an unbroken second wicket stand alongside Ryan Davies (12no) to guide Newtown to 67-1 and emphatic nine wicket victory in just seven overs.
