TWO Powys bowlers helped Wales to glory in last weekend’s British Isles International Series in Leamington Spa.

Andrew Fleming from Machynlleth and Llandrindod Wells bowler Sam Roff were part of the 26 man squad which defeated both Ireland and Scotland on Saturday.

Despite defeat against the English the Welsh squad were crowned champions on shot difference to bring the trophy home for the first time since 2012.

Roff will now turn his attention to the 10 Nations Test Match Tournament in Cardiff from July 6-14.

The invitation tournament forms part of Welsh preparations for the Atlantic Championships which Wales will host in 2019 with squads from Malaysia, Australia, USA, Spain, Ireland, Jersey, Canada, South Africa and Namibia descending on the capital city.

Both the Welsh Bowling Association (WBA) and Welsh Women’s Bowling Association (WWBA) have selected teams made up of a mix of experienced and development players to give them an opportunity to play against some of the top countries in the world.

Roff has been selected as a member of the fours team and will be joined in representing Powys by the Berriew trio of Bryony Wilson and Emma and Sophie Gittins.
