Alberbury(245 for 6) bt Wroxeter (168 all out) by 77 runs

Sam Morris starred with bat and ball as Alberbury maintained their bright start to the Henshalls League division one campaign with a comprehensive victory over Wroxeter at Pecknall Farm.

The middle order shone for the home side as an unbeaten 68 from Morris, who knocked off the runs in just 69 balls, laid a platform for Alberbury after they were put in to bat by the visitors, while Dan Leach also scored a half century before he fell on 51, caught by Ian Ramsey. Last week’s hero Mark Jones, in at number 5, also scored well but fell five runs short of his half century.

And how it was needed - opener Charles Bourne falling for 1 early on while Michael Crawshaw managed 15 despite sticking around at the crease a while longer, and when Adam Lawrence was caught and bowled for a duck the Alberbury innings was in danger of wobbling, only for Morris to steady the ship leaving them on a healthy looking 245/6 off their 45 overs.

Alberbury got off to the perfect start with the ball, Neil Savage despatching the Wroxeter openers for just 7 runs to put the visitors on the back foot immediately and although number 6 batsman Dan Harris(70) put up a worthy fight for the visitors, he became one of Morris’s three victims with the ball as the Alberbury man finished with figures of 3-36 to add to a memorable display with the bat.
