A RECORD 150 entries took on the iconic Cwmythig Hill track for the opening race of Rhayader Motocross Club’s summer Hare and Hounds series.

The championship class set the tone with Yamaha teamsters Alex Walton and Jay Thomas battling throughout the night before Walton seized a nine second victory.

Rhayader rider Adam James brought his KTM home almost a minute ahead of Henry Yardley in the experts class.

Wrexham’s Harry Houghton beat Jac George by 20 seconds for clubman class glory with John Williams ending third overall.

In the Over 40s class former top championship rider Wyn Hughes finished over a minute ahead of Bo Anderson while Jason Rees was a similar distance in front of Colin Griffiths to secure the Over 50s class win.

Ben Davies managed an extra lap more to win the huge sportsman class while a field of nearly 20 sidecars saw current British Champions David Williams and Luke Peters beat arch rivals Jonathan Williams and Neil James to take the expert class while Mark Stokes and Luke Townsend ended a lap ahead of Marcus Morgan and Callum Gibbons to win the clubman class.
