Experienced midfielder Damien Allen has become Newtown's first new signing of the summer.

The former Bangor City and Aberystwyth Town man joins eight of last season's squad who also committed to the Latham Park club earlier this week.

Speaking to the club website, manager Chris Hughes said Allen will bring a wealth of experience to the club.

"Damien has had a good career, and brings with him a wealth of experience both in England and in the Welsh Premier League," he said.

"Technically he is a really good player and will bring a lot of qualities to the club.

"We're delighted to get the deal done and we look forward to working with him."

Allen was a product of the Stockport County youth system, and went on to make 57 appearances for the club before moving to Royal Antwerp.

On his return to English football in 2007, he joined Morecambe before a spell with FC Halifax Town.

He spent seven years with Bangor, before signing for Aberystwyth in January this year.
