FOUR Crosses manager Mike Barton has backed his players to make history this week.

Goalkeeper Dan Wood was the hero with two saves as Crosses beat holders Llanfair United 4-2 on penalties at Dyffryn Banw on Tuesday to book their place in the final of the MP Foulkes Montgomeryshire Cup on Wednesday night.

By then Crosses will have also contested the Llansantffraid Village Cup final against Guilsfield Reserves on Friday and the Boys and Boden Montgomeryshire League Cup against Waterloo Rovers on Monday.

Barton said: “This side was put together in two weeks over pre-season but has evolved over the season.

“We have a fantastic bunch of players who all get on and want to fight for the club and each other.

“We have already finished second in the league and Emrys Morgan Cup runners up so it’s about time we won something.

“We know it will be tough in all the finals but we have a big squad to deal with the games o hopefully we can pick up some silverware before we start planning for next season.”

Rovers manager Dave Proctor was confident of a final spectacle.

“We have a depleted squad due to injuries and holidays but also confident in the players we have at our disposal to compete in what should be a great final,” said Proctor.

Llansantffraid Village overcame Llanidloes Town in the second semi-final of the MP Foulkes Montgomeryshire Cup in Caersws on Wednesday.

A Tom Gale double and strikes from Nathan Prodger and Bailey Austin completed a 4-2 win and set-up a tantalising local derby in the final in Llanrhaeadr on Wednesday
