Newtown 50 all out lost to Ludlow 51-6 by four wickets
NEWTOWN paid the price for a poor day with the bat in a four wicket defeat at Ludlow in the Henshalls Premier League.
Wickets fell regularly for the Mid Wales side after opener Tom Goodman was caught by Chris Ammonds off Dan Bradley for a top scoring 12.
Bradley (3-11) was joined by Ruel Braithwaite (2-12) in tearing through the top and middle order to leave Newtown on just 26-6.
Dai Brown arrested the collapse with a battling middle order display before being trapped LBW by Josh Williams (3-5) for 11 with Newtown all out for a meagre 50 in 26 overs.
Town needed early wickets in reply with Dave Anthony (2-11) and Tom Anderson (2-11) reducing the hosts to just 19-4.
Dan Ashley was caught by Dave Anthony off Ally Laird (1-14) for a duck before John Anthony (1-15) celebrated the wicket of Jack Griffiths for a top scoring 19.
However Ludlow were pushed past their target in the 22nd over by Gareth Parker (4no) and Braithwaite (3no) whose unbroken seventh wicket stand guided their side to 51-6 and glory.
