ADAM Putson proved the match winner as Bishops Castle Town overcame Waterloo Rovers to be crowned Tanners Town Cup winners on Friday night.
Forden’s Community Centre Field hosted the Honda Division One rivals.
The Welshpool side adapted to a testing surface first but failed to seriously test Castle player-manager Dan Dawson who donned the goalkeeper’s jersey.
Castle led when Putson’s free-kick found the back of the net through a crowded area.
Castle could have increased their lead before the break with Gaz Bromley going close only to be denied by Matt McWhinne
Rovers took the game to the Shropshire side after the break but struggled to penetrate a defence marshalled by man of the match Mark Griffiths and saw out the game to lift the cup.
