ANDREW Gittins scored the only goal of the game as Bow Street claimed a place in the semi-finals of the Spar Mid Wales League Cup with a 1-0 win over Berriew.

The Magpies slipped to a shock derby defeat against relegation battlers Machynlleth in midweek but found the perfect response with a hard-fought cup win against Dave Jones’ youthful Rhiewsiders.

Meanwhile Aberaeron celebrated their emphatic passage to the semi-finals with a 5-1 win at Carno.

Dan James and Mattie Davies shared the limelight with doubles while Liam Jacques completed the Seasiders tally with the hosts reducing the arrears through Scott Williams.

The result kept alive Aberaeron’s dreams of lifting major silverware for a second successive season having won the Central Wales Cup last season.

Aberaeron’s form has also been recognised with the club landing both monthly awards.

Manager Jason Jones has been awarded the Spar Mid Wales League One manager of the month while Mattie Davies scooped the player award.

Meanwhile Welshpool Town remained on course for a league and cup double with a 5-1 win over Radnor Valley.

The Lilywhites led when Will Thomas raced onto a Ricky Litchfield throughball to break the deadlock.

Despite being under the cosh for much of the half the Goats hit back on half-time with Callum Matthews setting up Joey Price to strike.

Pool started the second-half on top and regained their lead five minutes after the break with Adam Davies following up after Ian Probert struck the woodwork from a tight angle.

The outstanding Davies completed his brace moments later before Thomas added his second on the hour as Welshpool ruthlessly saw off the Radnorshire Cup winners.

Pool completed their tally with Ian MacLeod heading home to set up a semi-final against the winners of the outstanding quarter-final between Knighton Town and Llanfair United while Bow Street take on Aberaeron in the other tie.
