NEWTOWN swept aside the challenge of Caernarfon to book their place in the final of the North Wales Women’s League Cup.

Karen Lewis struck twice for Town while further goals from Clare Bonsall and Heidi Langford settled the outcome in a comfortable 4-0 win over the second division visitors.

Newtown will now take on Tywyn based Dysynni in the final of the league cup next month.

Newtown complete their league campaign with a visit from Welshpool on Saturday with the visitors needing a win to make sure of first division survival.

Meanwhile Presteigne endured an afternoon to forget in division one of the South Wales Women’s Premier League with the Radnorshire side crashing to an 8-0 defeat.

Montgomery were also on the receiving end of a defeat in the Shropshire Women’s League with the county town side slumping to a 3-0 defeat at home to Wem.

Elsewhere Richard Jones starred with a four goal haul as Newtown completed a thumping 6-0 win at Yardley in division one of the West Midland Men’s League.

Further goals from Sam Phillips-Harvey and captain Tom Hillidge earned Town the spoils and maintained their hopes of a top three finish.
