Holyhead Hotspur 2 Penrhyncoch 3
Penrhyncoch boosted their survival bid with victory at Holyhead Hotspur.
The Roosters suffered a nightmare start with Cledan Davies steering Mel McGinness’ fourth minute left wing cross into his own net.
Penrhyn weathered home pressure with Jamie McDaid and John Littlemore going close before levelling through Jonny Evans on 35 minutes.
It sparked a frantic end to the half as Littlemore restored Spurs’ advantage only for Penrhyn to hit back before the interval as Evans raced onto Cledan Davies’ free-kick to net.
The Roosters defence, marshalled by the veteran pairing of Sion James and Jon Foligno, kept Spurs at bay at the start of the second-half as their side led for the first time on 66 minutes with Steff Davies volleying home.
The home side were reduced to 10 men soon after with Dan McGiness seeing red for a dangerous tackle as Penrhyn saw out the game.
PENRHYNCOCH: Jenkins, Mousley, C Davies, S James, Foligno, Murfet (O James), E Evans, C Jones, Lewis, J Evans, S Davies (Blake). Sub: Corbisiero.
