PENRHYNCOCH travel to Gresford Athletic in the second round of the Huws Gray Cup on Saturday (1.30).

The Roosters make the trip on a high following last week’s battling league point at Rhyl.

Manager Gari Lewis said: “It was one of the best points since I’ve been manager.

“We went there with just 11 players, and just me on the bench, so to come away from one of the toughest places to go in the league with a point is a fantastic achievement.

“The boys gave everything. I can’t speak highly enough of them, and if they continue to show that kind of spirit, then they will be in the Huws Gray Alliance again next season.

“Even Rhyl’s management said we should have won it, which is nice, but we won’t be getting carried away as there is still a lot of work to be done.”

The Roosters travel with their injury crises easing thanks to the return of Steff Davies, Owain James, Carwyn Jones and Liam Doherty while midfielder Florin Burcea is also close to fitness following a shoulder injury.
