LAUREN Williams helped Wales to victory in last week’s under 20s international in Cardiff.

The Llanidloes star celebrated a gold medal in the women’s 400m hurdles while posting a new personal best of 60.01.

The victory also helped Wales to overall team victory with 132 points, seeing off the challenge of England South with 125 points with the Midlands third with 95.

Williams is a former Maldwyn Harrier and now an emerging talent with Swansea Harriers Athletics Club.

Williams said: “I’m really pleased to win, there was good competition so I hoped to run sub 60 again and was agonisingly close. Nevertheless I'm happy to have won and it's brilliant Wales won the overall match.”

Meanwhile several Powys athletes were in action in the NASUWT Cup and Plate Finals in Brecon.
