LLANIDLOES High School will fly the flag for Mid Wales in the British Schools Knock Out.
The girls year 10 side comprising of Chloe Hamer, Rhian Jones, Nia Williams and Emmie Bell successfully overcame Newtown and Llanfyllin to reach the North Wales Tennis Finals in Wrexham where they underlined their class by thrashing Brynhyfred.
A tighter contest against Colwyn Bay’s Rydal Penrhos culminated in victory for Llanidloes to secure their place in the British finals.
Llanidloes area community sports development officer Katie Hamer-Grew said: “The girls have played together since they were seven years old, with Sport Powys hosting Mini Wimbledon tournaments every year.
“This was the eighth year they made the North Wales finals and in last their year of competition they have made the British Knockout stages on 28th September. I am very proud of these girls achievements and hope they do well in the next stage of the competition.”
