POWYS is celebrating its best ever results in the North Wales Tennis Finals.

More than 600 primary school children aged between six and 11 took part in cluster events which led to the North Powys Finals where winners progressed to the North Wales Finals in Wrexham last week.

Eight schools represented North Powys in the finals and contributed to the region’s best ever results.

Llanfair Caereinion Year 3 boys and Llanfyllin Year 4 girls both triumphed while Guilsfield Year 5 girls ended section.

North Powys ended second in both boys and girls year six competitions with Llanrhaeadr boys and Buttington Trewern girls just falling short in the final.

Penygloddfa Year 4 boys ended third while Ysgol Dyffryn Trannon Year 4 girls took fourth spot with Llanidloes Year 5 boys ending fifth.
