HOLLY Fothergill struck twice as Montgomery won 3-0 at home to Telford and Wrekin IIs to climb to fourth in the Shropshire Ladies’ League.

The county town’s side dominance was never in doubt against a Telford side placed above them in the table at kick-off and eased to a comfortable margin of victory with Larna Andrew completing the scoring.

Meanwhile Newtown will take their treble dream to the final of the North Wales Ladies’ League Cup after overcoming Dysynni 4-1 in the semi-finals.

Jacqui Loxam inspired Town with a double, while Heidi Langford and Sian Griffiths completed the scoring and the Tywyn-based side replied with a consolation goal from Katy Latham.

Elsewhere Ellie Williams netted a last gasp winner as Presteigne snatched a point in a 3-3 draw at home to South Wales Ladies’ Premier League Two leaders Haverfordwest.

Presteigne started with an intense pace and deservedly led through Jess Goodwin, before the Pembrokeshire side immediately replied.

Fine passing led to Jody Owen releasing Rita Tomkins to restore the hosts’ lead.

Home goalkeeper Marie Watson kept Haverfordwest at bay but her goal was finally breached for a second time as the visitors levelled on half-time.

Haverfordwest led for the first time in the second-half, but Presteigne were not to be denied a deserved point and with two minutes remaining Williams steered home Goodwin’s cross to snatch an equaliser.

Elsewhere Radnor’s promotion bid in division one faltered after a 3-1 defeat at first division leaders Bridgend.

Sherrie Edwards’ strike proved mere consolation as a Louise Jones double and a Joanne Poupon effort kept Bridgend top of the table.

Newtown edged a hard-fought 2-1 win at home to Barlaston in the first division of the West Midland’ Men’s Hockey League.

Goals from Andy Denham and Arwyn Jones cancelled out a reply from Robert Bagnall as Newtown consolidated their top six placing.
