SAM Morris notched his first senior career century to guide Newtown IIs to a 96 run victory at Iscoys and Fenns Bank IIs in division two of the Henshalls Shropshire Reserve League.

Morris led by example as the skipper’s 118 put Newtown on course with support from Richard Smout (34) and Chris Brown (18) before birthday boy Jamie Smart (12no) guided Town to 225-6 to defend.

Morris (3-17) also impressed with the ball as Liam O’Neill (23), James Nicholson (24) and Paul Gresty (20) became his victims in reply.

Jack Barker (3-28) included top scorer Lloyd (36) in his impressive haul with support from Jack Williams (2-9) ensuring Iscoyd’s challenge ended at 129-9.

Montgomery IIs maintained their lead at the top of the table with a 21 run victory at home to Condover IIs.

Opener Tom Corfield (37) was joined by a strong middle order as Gareth Jones (25), Rob Yewdall (38) and Tom Hughes (28) impressed before Ross Wilkinson (17no) steered Monty to 192-8 to defend.

Richard Gilbert (2-28) and Ben Brooks (2-38) shared the wickets for Condover.

Andrew Brooks (61) led Condover’s reply before his fall to Wilkinson (1-18) while Yewdall (3-12) and Hughes (2-32) ensured victory with the departures of Will Davis (27) and Haydn Cross (22) leaving Condover 171-8.

Bishops Castle IIs toasted an 18 run victory at home to Acton Reynald IIs in division three.

Castle posted 193-4 to defend with a strong top order display from Dan Haubenschmid (44), Paul Moulder (42) and Chris Irving (29) before Mark Jones (50) top scored.

Simon Palmer (1-43) dismissed opener Paul Evans for a top scoring 41 in reply before Jones (2-29) accounted for Rishi Lee (36) and Graham Geary (28.)

Stephen Morris (2-11) ensured Acton Reynald left on 175-8 in the 35th over to complete Castle’s slender margin of victory.

Welshpool IIs fell short in a three wicket defeat at home to Lilleshall IVs.

Opener Dan Chodecki (40) was joined by Matt Sherwood (38) before Tom Bowen’s career best 47 guided Pool 187-6 to defend with Richard Todd (2-28) the pick of the Lilleshall attack.

Jack Windsor’s season’s best 4-22 included top scorers Supul Fernando (54) and Ganga Nitta (42) while Matt Sherwood (1-43) removed Amar Jassal (23).

However Lilleshall secured a three wicket win in the 37th over as mark Hadley (15no) guided his side to 188-7.

Meanwhile Alberbury IIs conceded their division one clash at Wem IIs.
