GUILSFIELD and Llandrinio proved no match for leaders Overton in a 102 run defeat in division four of the Henshalls Shropshire League.

Openers Robert Lawrenson (43) and Paul England (35) laid the platform for Overton before both were caught by Gary Lewis off Dave Lewis (3-41).

Dave Court (3-31) made inroads into the Overton middle order but Scott Lawrenson pinned the visitors innings together before being snared LBW by Gary West (1-40) for 37.

Harry Davis (38) and Will Smith (10) both made tail end contributions before falling to Jordan Evans (2-20) to leave the Guils chasing 207-9.

Matthew Lawrenson (2-14) accounted for the Guils top order in reply before Barney Pitt offered defiance.

However Pitt was unable to form any lasting partnerships as the middle order crumbled under pressure from Davis (3-34), falling for a top scoring 52 before Smith (4-16) completed the Guils demise for 105.

Meanwhile Llanidloes slipped to a seven wicket defeat at home to Hinstock.

Dave Moody (45no) and Lewis Swallow (30) led Llanidloes to 129-4 to defend with the visitors sharing wickets between Ian Walton (1-24), Rob Smith (1-25) and Harvey Wakefield (1-32).

Geoff Smith (31no) carried his bat in reply and despite Clive Jones (2-14) dislodging top scorer Wakefield (50), Llanidloes had no answer as Smith was joined by Rob Smith (19no) in an unbroken fourth wicket stand for victory in the 23rd over.

Elsewhere Alberbury IIIs conceded their match at Bomere Heath IIIs in division one of the Henshalls Shropshire Sunday League.
