FBC Manby Bowdler Shropshire League

SIMON Palmer’s sensational bowling display earned Bishops Castle a 90 run victory over a stunned Acton Reynald in the second division of the Shropshire League.


Palmer put in the bowling performance of the season with his 14 overs yielding 8-8, including 10 maidens.


Castle opener Andrew Lewis (57no) carried his bat and was joined by Edgar Whately (35) and Mark Griffiths (24no) in posting 139-5 to defend.


Palmer took centre stage by dominating the Reynald order in reply, with Adrian Burr (16) top scoring.
 

Palmer completed his man of the match display by running out tailender Callum Jinks to ensure Acton Reynald were skittled for a meagre 49.


Meanwhile Alberbury IIIs slipped to an eight wicket defeat at Wellington IVs in division six.
 

Opener Jamie Brooks played a leading role with a knock of 42, with tailend contributions from Gareth Phillips (12), Paul Dean (10) and Nick Williams (14no) seeing Alberbury IIIs post 116-8 to defend.


Simon Topper carried his bat with an unbeaten 42 in reply and was joined by Shehan Gunawardena (33) and Umair Nawaz (25no) in seeing Wellington to 118-2 and an eight wicket win.
