BETTWS Football Club had to abandon their promotion bid after uncertainty over the club’s ground came to light.
The club was unable to attain assurances on their Tregynon Road pitch after 2013 and as such were unable to follow through with their application to join the Mid Wales League for the first time.
Manager Mike Clare insisted the club retained its ambitions and would seek to apply again next season.
“Obviously it is massively disappointing not to have gone up,” said Clare. “Both the players and committee want to take the club to the next level and it would be historic for Bettws to be in the Mid Wales League.
“We hope to get the assurances we need over the ground in the next 12 months and hopefully we will be able to continue to use the ground in the Mid Wales League.”
Despite being established as far back as 1896 the village club have never played at a higher level than the Montgomeryshire League.
Clare added: “I was disappointed not to have been able to go up this season, but it remains my passion to bring success to Bettws and take the club to the next level.”
