BUILTH Wells Football Club have started the search for a new manager, after Jason Samuel stood down last week.
The popular player/manager guided the Bulls to a top six finish in last season’s Spar Mid Wales League One but has decided to step aside for family reasons.
Club committee member Graham Samuel said: “Jason informed the club he would no longer be able to give 100 per cent commitment next season and we respect his decision.
“Ideally he will stay involved in the management side of things, perhaps acting as assistant to the new manager when he is in place, but this is something we will look at again.”
Samuel hoped the club’s emergence as one of the top clubs in Spar Mid Wales League One would ensure a high calibre of candidates.
“Last season was a great success,” said Graham Samuel. “With a largely local side we managed to finish in sixth position in a highly competitive league and we have ambitions for the future.”
Builth Wells boasts one of the best set-ups in South Powys with a successful reserve side and a strong junior club.
Samuel added: “The club is committed to developing local talent and rather than invest in player wages the club has always put money into ground development and facilities.
“Hopefully the nucleus of last season’s squad will stay and we can push on again next season.”
