Danny Barton

DANNY Barton has stepped up to assist manager Russell Cadwallader at Guilsfield.

The 38-year-old striker succeeds Chris Roberts as assistant manager at Stadiwm Cegidfa, having become a firm fans’ favourites since arriving in 2010.

Barton scored 127 goals in 244 games during spells with Rhyl, Caernarfon Town and Newtown, before enjoying a four year spell at Ellesmere Rangers in the Midlands Alliance.

Barton will continue to play while assisting Cadwallader.

Meanwhile Guilsfield have been named the Huws Gray Alliance club of the season.
Visiting clubs marked their hosts throughout the season, which saw Guilsfield named the Turner Peachey Club of the Season at last week’s league annual meeting in Caersws.

It was the first time the award had been won by a Mid Wales club in its four year history, with Llandudno twice winners in the past, while Llangefni Town have also won the award on one occasion.
