NEWTOWN manager Bernard McNally has urged his side to put the record straight after a disappointing derby defeat, when they travel to Bala Town tonight (Friday, 7.30pm.)
McNally conceded several of his players had failed to perform in last weekend’s derby defeat at home to Aberystwyth Town, in a result which saw the Robins pulled back into the relegation zone.
There will be no respite at Maes Tegid, where the hosts have enjoyed solid form this season and held leaders TNS to a draw earlier in the season in their stand out result.
“They are a top side and it is a tough place to go,” said McNally. “We must go there with no fear and despite playing so poorly against Aberystwyth Town, the lads know that this is a great opportunity to put the record straight and get something from the game.
“Five or six lads did not do themselves justice against Aberystwyth and we simply cannot afford that if we are to compete in this league.”
Defender Jermaine Johnson sits out the clash through suspension, while the Robins are also sweating on the fitness of utility man Luke Boundford.
“Luke can do a job in a variety of positions so it is a blow to be without him,” said McNally. “We are getting used to changing formations during a game, so we need all the options we can get.”
