Alberbury 189 for 7 beat
Lilleshall 187 for 6 by 3 wickets
ALBERBURY vanquished memories of their stumble against Cound by getting their title bid back on track at home to Lilleshall.
The hosts won the toss and drew early blood, with Ben Davies bowling opener Simon Drinkwater.
Replacement Adam Tempest did not last much longer, before holing a shot into Charles Bourne’s grasp off Davies (2-24.)
Surviving opener Ed Keenan kept the runs ticking over with a decent knock of 32, but was let down by the rest of the Lilleshall early order.
Ben Waters (14), Paul Bainbridge (14) and Will Askin (10) failed to impress as Myles Thomas (2-36) and Andy Holloway (1-45) made their presence felt.
Keenan was finally despatched when caught by Elliot Brookes off Neil Savage (1-47.)
An unbroken seventh wicket partnership saw Jack Pierce (59no) joined by Kelvin Price (19no) to see Lilleshall to 187-6 to defend.
Once again Alberbury suffered a less than formidable start as Charles Bourne was bowled for just three by Will Askin.
Opener Mike Crawshaw was joined by Mark Jones, as the pair sought to establish a lasting partnership.
However Jones posted just 19 when caught off Askin (4-51), while Andy Wynne (11) was also sent packing by Ron Bagshaw.
Crawshaw was joined by Ed Kneale with the duo setting about upping the run rate and closing on the target.
The duo combined superbly until Crawshaw was run out on a top scoring 47.
Kneale was also removed when snared LBW for 41 by Dave Bicknell.
However Alberbury’s victory was secured by James Wynne with an unbeaten 22.
Along the way Wynne was joined by Brookes (2) and Davies (10) before skipper Savage (9no) joined the fray in an unbeaten eighth wicket stand.
