FBC Manby Bowdler Shropshire Division One
Alberbury 200 all out beat
Frankton 135 for 6 by 65 runs
ALBERBURY maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign with a comfortable 65 run win at Frankton.
The border side batted with confidence to lay the foundations for a substantial total, only to suffer a wobble to close on 200.
Openers Mike Crawshaw (48) and Charlie Bourne (24) made a positive start for the visiting side.
It was left to Mark Jones to guide Alberbury to a challenging total, with a superb knock of 73 underlining his quality.
Jones missed the majority of last season but has joined Alberbury opener Mike Crawshaw at the top of the 2011 batting averages with a run rate of 71.
Meanwhile the return of Jones has seen Alberbury win three games - the most in the FBC Manby Bowdler Shropshire League.
However the middle order and tail failed to perform as Tom Wlkie took six wickets to leave Alberbury to defend a total of 200.
Frankton struggled in reply with Andy Holloway (3-25) dominating the top order, while wickets apiece for Ben Davies, Myles Thomas and Steve Jarrett saw Frankton continue to struggle.
Frankton were hanging on for a draw before Neil Savage completed his four wicket haul with a hat-trick, to complete a 65 run victory.
Victory sees Alberbury remain among the pacesetters and now lie just two point behind early season leaders Knockin and Kinnerley.
