Jungle fighter joins force

A FORMER jungle fighter had signed up to Welshpool Police Force in November 1959.
Constable AJ Pugh, who served two years national service with the South Wales borderers and carried out anti-terror missions in Malaya as a corporal.

Based in Tampoi, his unit was in the jungle for three weeks at a time.

Constable Pugh, who was 21, joined Welshpool Police from Bridgend Police Training College.

His home was at Pantycelyn, Aberyscir, near Brecon.
