A LLANIDLOES teenager was celebrating two successes back in the late 1970's.
Karen Pugh, 17, was named as the Blue Lagoon's Miss Valentine on February 19, 1977.

She was selected from a large group of women for the award at the Blue Lagoon club and was presented with a bottle of champagne by Susan Jones of Kerry and club disc jockey, DJ Jimmy.

Karen followed up her success in the Miss Valentine contest by being names Llanidloes Carnival Queen in May 1978.

Karen, who was a trainee hairdresser named horse riding and guitar playing as her favourite hobbies.
