A HGV driver was cut free from his cab this morning after his lorry came off the road and tipped on it's side near a turning from the A458 road to Castle Caereinion.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 6.18am this morning due and Firefighters from Welshpool and Montgomery used cutting equipment to free the driver from the cab.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries.

A spokesman for the Wales Ambulance Service said that the male driver was later taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police added : “We received a report of a single-vehicle RTC involving a lorry, at 6.23am today.

The lorry left the road and became stuck down an embankment around three miles out of Welshpool.

"The road is open, traffic lights are in place.”

The road was closed for two and a half hours, re-opening at around 9am as investigations into the incident take place.
