WINTER is still trying to hold on to it's icy grip on Powys.

The Met Office have issued an amber weather warning for the county on Sunday.

People can expect temperatures to plunge again starting on Saturday as a chilly strong easterly wind wind will combine with some very string gusts in the northwest.

The Amber weather alert will be in force from 12.05am for the whole of Sunday until 11.55pm and people can expect sunshine and snow showers with the wind chill making the temperature in some places feel like minus 8 degrees celsius.

The weather could be potentially disruptive.

With weather warning issued for the weekend gas emergency and pipeline service Wales & West Utilities are reminding people of the steps they need to take to stay gas safe.

Clive Book, Wales & West Utilities Head of Gas Emergency Service said: "We can get to gas emergencies and help those most in need, it is essential that only people who smell gas, have a gas leak, low gas pressure or suspect the presence of carbon monoxide contact the gas emergency number 0800 111 999. They will not be able to help you with boiler issues.

"My engineers will be working round the clock whatever the weather to respond to gas emergencies as safely and as quickly as possible, preventing injury and saving lives.
