A TEENAGER from Llanidloes has entered the record books following a stunning performance at the England Athletics U17/20 and U15 Championships in Sheffield.
Thirteen year old Max Evans, a member of Newtown based Maldwyn Harriers Athletics Club, made the trip to Sheffield following a dominant display at the Welsh Championships in January.
Max took this form into the English Championships where he competed in the 60m and 200m
Max ran a new personal best with one of the fastest Welsh U15 60m times ever of 7.13s, taking silver.
He is ranked second in the UK with this performance for 2023.

In the 200m, a much more challenging distance considering a tight indoor track, Max again ran a PB of 23.02s in the heats.
However, in the final he ran another massive PB to win with 22.43s - the fastest U15B time in the UK this year and one of the quickest Welsh times ever in this age group.
Maldwyn Harriers Athletics Club coach Owen Chesher said: “We’re seeing Max go from strength to strength this indoor season, after a strong 2022 and some hard work through winter.
"He’s a great championship performer, and this outdoor season should give him a chance to really stretch his legs. Congratulations again Max, from all at the club.”
