TWO composers from Llanidloes have scored the soundtrack for a new film by Universal studios.

Robert Geoffrey Hughes and Chris Hurst recorded and produced the entire score in their studio in Llanidloes.

‘Tango One’ from Universal Pictures is a spy thriller based on the bestselling novel from Stephen Leather.

Robert said he jumped at director Sacha Bennett’s offer to compose the soundtrack for the film: “The genre was right up our street and it’s definitely our best one yet. We spent two and a half months composing the music which meant I missed out on watching Wales playing in the Euros in France!

“We did it all in Llanidloes and I loved it! It’s a complete contrast to the cities with graffiti where most studios are based.”

Robert and Chris first met each other at an under-9s football match between Carno and Llanidloes then became good friends at Llanidloes High School. Since then, they have composed two films together.

“Chris is the orchestral one and I’m more electronic. Composing came out of the blue. I contacted a film director on Twitter and sent him some tracks. He loved them and the rest is history.”

Tango One is available to buy online and in stores now.
