CHILDREN travelling on one of Mid Wales’ leading tourist attractions will receive a free chocolate egg on the new Easter Bunny service.

The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway (W&LLR) will be running the special train journeys over the Easter Weekend from March 31 to April 2.

Along the journey, children will get the chance to meet the Easter Bunny and spot some eggs along the route.

W&LLR spokesman Andrew Charman is looking forward to seeing steam in the Banwy Valley again, saying: “The Easter Bunny’s visit is a sure sign that Spring is here, and that the snowy season is finished!”

The W&LLR is looking forward to opening its 55th season this month. After the worst of the winter weather has passed, volunteers are looking forward to re-opening the full eight miles of line. The first train of the new main season leaves Llanfair Caereinion at 10am on Saturday, March 24, and then daily from Tuesday, March 27 until Sunday, April 15.

Full information on the railway, including online ticket booking, can be found at www.wllr.org.uk or by calling 01938 810 441.
