OVER 30 school in Powys have confirmed that they are closed today, due to the icy blast from the east.

A yellow weather warning is still in effect this morning due to the icy conditions - but the temperature is supposed to rise this afternoon to a balmy 4 degrees Celsius.

The sun is supposed to shine which will start to melt the snow.

Tomorrow the temperature will rise again to 7 degrees Celsius.

It's still treacherous on the roads, but they are now passable with care.

The A483 between Newtown and Dolfor has just opened this morning.

The road A458 between Llanfair Caereinion and Welshpool is clear, but there are roadworks and a rolling convoy in place at Cyfronydd.

The A470 between Cemmaes and Caersws is said to be passable with care.
