BUILTH Wells have completed a transfer coup with the capture of former Harlequins star Marc Thomas.

The 33 year old prop forward comes into contention ahead of Builth Wells' Admiral Division One West Central clash at old rivals Morriston.

Thomas previously represented the Bulls before joining Bridgend RFC and the Ospreys in 2012.

Thomas joined RFU Championship club Jersey Reds for the 2016–17 season before switching to join Welsh region Cardiff Blues back in the Pro12.

A spell in the English Championship with Yorkshire Carnegie and Doncaster Knights was followed by a season at Harlequins before joining Worcester Warriors for the start of the 2020–21 season.

Builth head coach Ben Duggan welcomed Thomas' return to the club after more than a decade away.

"Marc comes into to strengthen the forwards up," said Duggan.

"It will be a tough game in Morriston with both teams looking for their first league win," added Duggan. "The boys have trained well over the last three weeks and are keen to get going again."

Builth have also been paired at Llangefni in the next round of the WRU Cup.

Duggan said: "It will be a long trek from Builth but one the boys are looking forward to which could be the first ever game between the two clubs."
