A BUILTH Wells cycling business got back in the saddle to help BBC Radio 1’s Greg James complete his epic Sport Relief challenge.

Cycle-Tec supported the popular DJ on his ‘Gregathlon: Pedal to Peaks’ fundraising challenge in Scotland after it was postponed by the ‘Beast from the East’ earlier this month.

Dave Evans of Cycle-Tec joined Greg on the gruelling day-and-a-half journey riding over 180 miles.

“Greg is a genuinely nice guy and it was a bit overwhelming to actually ride with him,” he said.

“We went through the pain together. It was quite an achievement and I’m glad I got the chance to do it.”

Dave and manager Gareth Rowland received the phone call from the organisers last week about the possibility of finishing the challenge.

“We were up for it.” said Dave.

“The weather was horrendous and the conditions deteriorated but we kept on smiling. We proved to them what we can do and did Builth proud.

“It was good to get back on the saddle and finish it off. It felt like we had closure on the whole challenge.”

“Cycle-Tec has showcased how well a small business from Mid Wales can perform on a national platform.”

Greg’s challenge has raised over £1million for Sport Relief.
